How does such a gigantic collection of greenery come into being? It was Louis De Wachter who planted a collection of 450 trees and shrubs in 1970. In 1999, the municipality bought the domain and it was expanded with a pond, a marsh zone, and 150 additional plant species. The arboretum has now been leased to Natuurpunt vzw.
