The duty of memory: remembering yesterday so as not to give in today

At a time when hate speech, identity withdrawal and human rights violations are multiplying, it is essential to preserve the memory of the tragedies that have marked the history of humanity. La Shoah, the Armenian genocide and the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda remind us that beyond eras, the mechanisms of dehumanization can repeat themselves when indifference sets in. This conference will bring together direct witnesses and human rights defenders whose words constitute a precious landmark for understanding the present and acting with lucidity.
