I’m Still Here was awarded best international film at the Oscars in 2025 and is based on the true story of former congressman Rubens Paiva, during the Brazilian military dictatorship in the seventies. The lives of Rubens Paiva’s wife Eunice (Fernanda Torres) and their five children change abruptly, and forever, after the disappearance. Eunice is captured and pressured by the regime to betray her friends and family. When she is released 12 days later, she does everything she can to stand up against the corrupt regime and fight for the rights of thousands of disappeared, innocent citizens and their families. I’m Still Here follows a person who, despite loss and setbacks, refuses to give up. In an intimate and gripping journey, we see how hope, love and memories give strength to carry on.
