Classical in the Church | Bram Weijters Trio - In dialogue

In the intimate atmosphere of Classical in the Church, the Chamber Jazz trio of Bram Weijters presents their program ‘In Dialogue’. Expect no strict performances of great classical works, but an acoustic chamber musical soundscape in which jazz and classical traditions meet for an atmospheric journey full of sounds and images. Own compositions, improvisations, and reworkings enter into a subtle interaction with some grandmasters of classical music. Central is a deep admiration for the masterful contrapuntal ingenuity of Bach, in which motifs unfold and transform into new structures again and again. In addition, there is also room for dialogue with the atmospheric impressionism of Claude Debussy and the stilled minimalism of Arvo Pärt. The program is carefully tailored to this specific acoustic setting and to the photo expo Foto Verhalen van Bernard Castelein, in which you literally find yourself at that moment. Just like with Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, you can make your own associations between music and image. The title ‘In Dialogue’ reflects this triple conversation between the three musicians, between jazz and classical, and between music and photography.
