The area is, by the way, included as an archaeological whole in the scientific inventory of the Agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed.\n\nThis area has remained fairly pristine and shows clear traces of settlement and agricultural history from the end of the Middle Ages. Old sand pits testify to a recent extraction history.\n\nDuring the walk, we pass an iconic piece of heritage: the lively 'Leyssensmolen' from 1797.
