In the morning we visit Ronse, 'the Pearl of the Vlaamse Ardennen' as the Flemish writer Omer Wattez (1857-1935) described the city at the time. In the afternoon we head down to Ename and visit the new Heritage Center. 8.00 a.m. Departure from the parking lot De Buidel. 9.30 a.m. We enjoy a coffee among the magnificent tile tableaux of De Harmonie (Grote Markt). Afterwards, a city walk will take us to, among other things, the Saint Hermes Basilica and crypt, past various art deco buildings and other exponents of the flourishing 19th-century textile industry. 12.00 p.m. We will enjoy pork cheeks in De Promenade (Grote Markt), followed by coffee and cake. 2.00 p.m. With a guide, we rediscover the permanent museum collection and visit the temporary exhibition Power, loss and revival in Ename. Afterwards, there is an opportunity (under supervision) to explore the archeopark (ruins of the Saint Salvator Abbey) and the early Romaanse Sint Saint Laurentius Church in the village (authentic frescoes and a time window, which reveals the excavations, the restoration, ...). 7.00 p.m. Back in Koekelare Deelname (bus, lunch and all visits included): € 80 Register in advance by payment to BE85 0682 1416 4206
