Ode to the darkness

Get ready for a special concert. In 2018, Patricia Vanneste left Balthazar, the band she co-founded fourteen years earlier. Recently, she started a new collective with writer Lies Verswijvel: IJLLAND. Ode aan de donkerte is their first project and is a tribute to the emotions we struggle to deal with in our society. Darkness is an essential and fundamental part of life. Just as we cannot rush winter to spring and night to day, darkness can only be experienced sustainably if it is given the necessary time and space. The days are shortening. No better moment to experience Ode aan de donkerte . As an audience, you are taken on a journey through the dark recesses of the soul with soundscapes, music, and storytelling. Visual artist Sharon Van Cleuvenberg created lamps for the scenography from paper files of people with mental vulnerability. Because difficult stories also deserve to be seen. In every lamp or object, beautiful stories are cherished. Stories of suffering, sadness, and loneliness but also of courage, friendship, perseverance, and love. This is a lying-down concert.
