Epitome of modernism, palace on the heath, pearl of the interwar period. When visiting the former sanatorium Lemaire in Tombeek, the superlatives are never far away. And rightly so. This modernist building by the hand of the then still young architect Maxime Brunfaut, is today a residential care center and still a treat for the eyes of architecture enthusiasts. Together with our guide, we discover the (socialist) story behind this impressive building. After this visit, we make an equally special tour. We stop along the way at the belle-epoque houses at the Meer van Genval, visit a grape greenhouse and close in beauty at FEST, a beautiful (self-) picking garden.
