For the twelfth time, the 10th Communication and Information Systems Group from Leopoldsburg is organizing their annual Sponsorship Concert in collaboration with the municipality of Grimbergen. As every year, the proceeds go to two charities. This year, they are paying tribute to two jazz legends: Miles Davis and Toots Thielemans. in collaboration with the municipality of Grimbergen and 10 Gp CIS On Friday, September 25, the Royal Marine Band will pay tribute to two icons of jazz: Miles Davis and Toots Thielemans. This year we celebrate 100 years of Miles Davis, the visionary trumpeter who constantly renewed jazz and inspired generations of musicians. Miles was known for his open mind: he was just as inspired by rock, funk, and pop, and even recorded music by artists such as Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper. At the same time, we commemorate 10 years since the passing of Toots Thielemans, one of the greatest Belgian jazz musicians ever. With his warm and recognizable sound, he knew how to touch audiences worldwide. His composition Bluesette grew into a true jazz standard. Miles and Toots each moved in their own way between jazz, pop, and film music, thus bringing jazz to a wide audience. In 'Miles versus Toots', the Royal Marine Band lets these two legends musically converse with each other. A tribute to two artists who permanently shaped jazz.
