The morning light slowly creeps into the halls. Colors come to life and shadows begin to dance. Ravels Daphnis et Chloé forms the beating heart of this Sunday morning with a love story that unfolds in soft shades and increasingly rich tones. In the suites, the music paints a sound story of light and warmth, poetry and movement, as if the day itself is awakening. In addition, another surprising perspective awaits. The double bass, usually anchored in the depth and accompaniment of the orchestra, steps forward as a soloist. In Divertimento concertante by Nino Rota – known for the film music of The Godfather – gives the instrument a virtuoso voice. Vlad Rațiu, double bass leader of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, shows off his instrument with flair and personality. Dirigent Elena Schwarz leads this morning with a distinct sense of balance and poise. A brilliant start to the day with movement and imagination.
