'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' is, alongside 'Romeo and Juliet', just about the most famous work by William Shakespeare. The basic elements of the story leave nothing to the imagination: love at first sight, despair, adultery, jealousy, drama, but also witty humor and, of course, reconciliation. Although this romantic comedy was written as early as 1600, it has inspired many other artists throughout history. For example, Felix Mendelssohn wrote swirling and colorful orchestral music for it, and the work is perhaps among the composer's most performed. The timeless and universal character of this saga also inspired director Tom Goossens, who worked with the original script to create his own version. Goossens’ adaptations are always firmly anchored in the here and now. This creation is not only a touring performance with seven musicians and four actors, but also tells the story of a group of musicians and four actors who are on tour with 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. The location and dressing rooms of the cultural center, the public area, and the foyer; everything finds its place in this performance that evokes both laughter and tears.
