Piedestal is an enchanting and inclusive performance at the intersection of theater and circus.
Seven pulcinellas* go in search of something greater. No one knows where that something greater could be. Some claim it is in the ground, hangs in the air, is in the throat. Until it turns out that the something might be much more abstract. Truth. Lie. Dare. Do. The something only reveals itself when you are no longer looking for it. Piedestal is a story about the fragility of the human who balances and nevertheless dares to go up into the heights for a moment to distance themselves from the earthly murmur.
*A pulcinella is a comic figure from the Italian commedia dell’arte, a precursor of Jan Klaassen as it were!
