Visit the Royal Palace

Welcome to the Royal Palace of Brussels, where Belgium’s head of state has his principal office. It is here that the King works every day together with his staff. It is also where, either in audiences or at work meetings, he receives numerous people in positions of responsibility from the political, social, economic, cultural and military spheres, as well as leading figures from abroad. This, too, is where the Queen has her office and where she receives her guests. The Royal Palace of Brussels symbolizes, above all other locations, the role of the monarchy in Belgium. Important events in the life of the nation take place here. For example, at the end of January each year, the King delivers a speech to the nation’s various authorities in the Throne Room, the largest of the Palace’s rooms. Built on the site where the Palace of the Dukes of Brabant and Burgundy once stood, the Royal Palace of Brussels is the result of successive architectural initiatives. A great many of the artworks and furnishings from the Royal Collection are to be found in its rooms and salons.
