Ladysmith Black Mambazo

For more than 50 years, the South Afrikaanse Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been capturing the hearts of audiences all over the world. Their harmonies, rhythmic dance movements, and the relaxed way in which they interact with the audience made them one of the most famous South African vocal groups. They received five Grammy Awards and were nominated nineteen times. In the 70s, the group grew into a fixture in South Africa. In the mid-80s, Paul Simon discovered their music and invited them for his Graceland album, a collaboration that made their sound known to a global audience. Today, the group carefully guards its musical heritage. Older members passed on the tradition of storytelling and singing to a new generation, which in turn brings fresh energy. Ladysmith Black Mambazo still travels the world with the same message that has always been central: peace, connection, and harmony, interpreted in song and dance.
