Jens Dendoncker is many things: stand-up comedian, presenter, gifted lover, and big fan of art. That last-mentioned passion he now wants to share with the general public. With the help of aggressive marketing and a handful of films with Julia Roberts in the lead role, we have come to associate 'romance' with scented candles around the bath, flower petals on the bedspread, and a bottle of massage oil for €11.49 (ordered before 11:59 PM, delivered tomorrow!). With that, we seem to have completely forgotten an entire cultural-historical period, which produced many of the greatest writers, painters, and thinkers of the 18th and 19th centuries.
