Open Monument Day at NAVIGO Fisheries Museum Event

Open Monument Day at NAVIGO Fisheries Museum

Sun, 13 Sept 2026 · 14:00
NAVIGO-Nationaal Visserijmuseum Oostduinkerke, Koksijde
Free
The NAVIGO Fisheries Museum is 50 years old this year! The museum is not only a place where fishing heritage is preserved and celebrated, it is at the same time a real meeting place in the old heart of Oostduinkerke. The buildings of the NAVIGO fisheries museum are arranged around the old fisherman's cottage, a faithful reconstruction of a disappeared historical fisherman's cottage in Koksijde. Op Open Monumentendag you can visit the museum and the expo Pèèrdevisschers van Stephan Vanfleteren for free during opening hours. You can also join one of the three guided architecture tours in and around the museum. During a guided architecture tour, you visit some public and non-public parts of the museum site. The tour focuses on the new architecture, but situates it within the broader evolution of this heritage site, with its prehistory as the location of the village church, the creation of the Fisheries Museum, and the evolution to today. Practical info: A free visit is possible. There are also 3 tours with a guide, this lasts 2 hours. There are a maximum of 20 people per guide.
