Pelt Jazz - Sweet Warriors

What do Jeff Buckley, Jacques Brel, Jaco Pastorius, Anne Sylvestre, Gabriel Fauré, and Baudelaire have in common? Their ability to reconcile tenderness and primal force, melancholy and zest for life. Exactly that field of tension forms the starting point of Sweet Warriors. Drummer and composer Lionel Beuvens weaves the oeuvre of these artists with his own compositions and seeks peace, connection, and conscious action through music. He surrounds himself with musicians who embody that intensity: saxophonist Jeroen Van Herzeele, an influential voice with a unique tone, and his daughter Héloïse Van Herzeele, whose deep voice and layered lyrics seamlessly connect with Beuvens’ universe. Pianist Casimir Liberski (Berklee, laureate Montreux) enriches the sound palette with jazz, film, and avant-garde. Bassist Emanuel Van Mieghem forms, together with Beuvens, the solid, agile backbone of the ensemble.
