Les Trouveurs & Marc Mauillon, Voices around 1300

Around 1300, something shifts in the Western music landscape. The monophonic singing tradition gets competition from increasingly rich polyphony – but that does not mean that old repertoires and styles disappear definitively. It is a field of tension where Marc Mauillon and Les Trouveurs feel like a fish in water. The revelation of IYAP 2025, the young ensemble Les Trouveurs, is back on the stage of AMUZ, this time in a program that combines hymns from the Cantigas de Santa Maria with rhythmically sophisticated motets, Italian ballate of Francesco Landini, and refined troubadour songs of Raimbaut de Vaqueiras. Mauillon, known for his intense interpretations of work by Guillaume de Machaut, proves once again how fresh and current this repertoire can sound.
