CLOSE(R) is a visual and physical reworking of Patrick Marbers (1997) Closer. An unvarnished exploration of desire, honesty, and self-deception in love. We follow Anna, Larry, Alice, and Dan through the years and see them come together, clash, and break. Four people who crave recognition, to be seen, but who constantly hide behind games, irony, facade, or control. “Where is that love then? I cannot see it, I cannot touch it, I cannot feel it. I hear words, but I cannot do anything with them.” In a fragmentary and brutal composition, Tristan Feyten, Dagmar Dierick, Willem Herbots, and Margaux Cauliez show the underlying mechanisms in love and intimacy. The loneliness and friction that are inextricably linked to relationships.
