On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 24-hour bike race, the Forum des Halles is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the history of this emblematic event of Louvain-la-Neuve.
From October 15 to December 15, 2026, set off to discover half a century of history through archives, photographs, posters, objects and testimonies. From the creation of the 24h in 1976 to their place in the identity of Louvain-la-Neuve today, the exhibition traces the evolution of this unique student adventure.
The itinerary highlights folkloric bikes, posters of the various editions, the backstage of the organization, the hundreds of volunteers who make the event possible, as well as the many memories and anecdotes that have marked these fifty years.
Beyond the race, the exhibition also tells the story of a city and its student community. The 24h bike race embodies a spirit mixing creativity, humor, resourcefulness and a sense of celebration, which has become one of the signatures of Louvain-la-Neuve.
Whether you are a former participant, a student, an inhabitant of Louvain-la-Neuve or simply curious, come and (re)discover the history of the 24h bike race and the heritage of an event that continues to bring generations together.
An UCLouvain exhibition in partnership with the CSE and the Archives Service of UCLouvain.
