SUMMER TOURS 2026 - Sint Sixtusbossen

SINT SIXTUS WOODS - POPERINGE-VLETEREN - 7 KM On the border of Poperinge and Vleteren lies the Sint Sixtusbossen complex, approximately 250 hectares in size. The local forest ranger Erwin Verfaillie takes us through the various sub-areas of forest, meadows, orchards, connecting paths, ... that make it a true 'complex'. That Dat West-Vleteren has more to offer than Trappist beer is proven by the presence of species such as the rare red wood ant, the many roe deer, very old oaks, the golden oriole, numerous amphibian pools, and so much more. - NEW - 4 DOMAIN WALKS This is one of the four 'domain walks' this year, where we don't make large landscape walks as usual, but focus on one area. These 4 domain walks are: July 1: Palingbeek provincial domain - July 8: Viconia clay pits ANB domain - July 15: Kemmelberg provincial domain - August 19: Sint Sixtusbossen ANB domain. SUMMER TOURS 2026 General Summer Tours is an organization by Natuurpunt De Bron and partners. In this 17th edition, there are 25 walks; on every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening in July and August.
