Macedonia, 81 minutes Fairy tale and social drama come together in this loving film about a farming existence that is threatened. An older farmer and his wife reminisce while laughing, but also work hard on their piece of land, old-fashioned with horse and plow. Their way of life is threatened by globalization and a soulless market economy. The farmer brings in a rich harvest. His children migrate to Germany, in the hope of earning more as seasonal workers. His wife soon follows, to look after the grandchildren. A formidable film, with beautiful images and touching characters. As current as it is timeless. Tickets only at the evening box office!
