BALKAN SPLINTERS - Duo RAAS

Violin-guitar duo RAAS, together with composer Mart Flecijn, explores the rich sound world of the Balkans. This folk music originated from people coming together, passing on melodies and rhythms by ear. As a child, Flecijn learned Hungarian folk music directly from musicians in the Balkan region and is now, in turn, passing that tradition on to the duo by ear. For this project, she is also writing a new composition. This creates a tempestuous sound world of traditionals, original work, and surprising arrangements of Bartók, balancing between melancholy and dance. Music that takes you to the heart of the Balkans.
