In Praise and Love

The CBM choir from Tienen brings you an a cappella program. Through the centuries of the English choral tradition, we explore love in its many forms – divine and human, contemplative and expressive – as a universal language, intimate, profound, and essentially human. In the first part of the concert, the clear and intimate polyphony of William Byrd shapes the mass into a devotional offering, in which love is elevated and brought to life by the pure, unaccompanied voice. The second half of the concert focuses on earthly love in all its shades and follows a human journey of love, loss, and renewal – from the elegance of Renaissance madrigals to the rich expressiveness of Edward Elgar and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
