Family day in the Mispelaarhoek

De Mispelaarhoek is a 4.6-hectare nature reserve of Natuurpunt, located in the middle of Zonnebeke, Passendale, and Moorslede. A small piece of protected nature reserve, right in an intensive agricultural area. Recently, the area could be slightly expanded with a new purchase. The family day on Sunday, July 5, seems to us the perfect moment to celebrate this and put the area in the spotlight. We do this with a full program, with an offer for young and old, continuously from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. PROGRAM 👉 Guided tour : Every 30 minutes, a guide will take you through the area and tell you about the origin, management, natural values, and future of the area. 👉 Information stand : At the information stand, you will find all information about Natuurpunt and its local operations. The conservators of the area and members of the Westland and Mandelstreke departments will be happy to give you more information about the area. 👉 What flies and crawls there? : The amphibian working group of Natuurpunt De Bron will scoop in the pond and let you marvel at what lives in it. Besides amphibians, there are also small water animals and plants to admire. 👉 Discover what lives in the pond! : The insect working group of Natuurpunt De Bron will catch butterflies and other insects so they can be admired in peace. Butterflies usually appeal most to the imagination. But once smaller animals are put under a magnifying glass, you will be amazed at what can be found. 👉 Do you know it? : You can test your nature knowledge via a quiz. 👉 Snack, drink, chat : Enjoy a snack or a drink. It is also the ideal opportunity to learn more about what Natuurpunt does for more and better nature in our region through volunteers from the Natuurpunt departments and working groups. PRACTICAL PARKING 👉 Are you coming by bike? There is bicycle parking in the Nieuwe molenstraat. 👉 Are you coming by car? You can park in the parking lot of Tyne Cot Cemetry in the Vijfwegestraat. From there, you can walk to the area along quiet paths (it will be indicated). PARTICIPATION: free. REGISTRATION: desired, before June 29. This way we can plan the catering well.
