Wouter Bulckaert - John Cale. Underdog in the Underground

Auteur Wouter Bulckaert plays with his band The Underdogs songs by John Cale and The Velvet Underground, and tells John Cales musical story in passing. For fans of Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave. The classically trained Welshman John Cale founded Lou Reed in New York The Velvet Underground together with Lou Reed. During his solo career, he continues to tirelessly experiment and explore, from pop to punk, from trip-hop to avant-garde. In between, he produces iconic records like Patti Smiths ‘Horses’. In the musical performance ‘John Cale. Underdog in the Underground’, Wouter Bulckaert plays a cross-section of Cale's repertoire with his band The Underdogs (Ben De Troyer and Brecht Peleman). Meanwhile, he tells how the enigmatic John Cale remains an elusive outsider: an alien in rock ’n roll, a misfit in classical music, and an underdog in the underground. The performance is visually finished with drawings from the book by the New Yorkse illustrator Edward Hall.
