We found you on the side of the road. Or you searched for us and only then found us. You were lost. Lost everything. But now you are here. In de Hyenalaan. In the white villa, four creatures are ready day and night for every form of care and shelter. A meeting house. A hideout. A warm place where one feels accepted. De Hyenalaan is a plea that makes you think about caring and taking care. About how we organize that care as a society and as a friend, classmate, grandchild, as a lover, and as a neighbor. What can we mean for someone? What does social engagement mean? And how do we meet each other? A performance by Marlies Tack and Michaël Vandewalle, who use their experience as theater makers in the social-artistic field to create De Hyenalaan: a new world of care. Encounters and stories about the confrontation with youth care, poverty, mental suffering, addictions, institutions, and care agencies are part of the basis. We must all worry about our youth care. The five-star performance ‘De Hyenalaan’ by Antigone makes it poignantly palpable. – De Standaard ENG - Based on stories from youth care, about poverty, mental distress, addiction, and institutional care, De Hyenalaan advocates for a new perspective on care and responsibility. A performance that challenges societal norms and asks how we, as individuals, communities, and institutions, can do more for each other.
