Fuzzy bears - the Beren Gieren

Fuzzy bears is the alter ego of jazz trio De Beren Gieren (CCHA, 2019), one of the most important assets of Belgian jazz. The trio around Fulco Ottervanger started in 2009, A raveling (2013) provided the breakthrough, and since One mirrors many (2015) they have also been playing internationally. Na Less is endless (2021) and What eludes us (2024) they make an electronic excursion as Fuzzy Bears, born from an in-depth exploration of modular synths and electronic soundscapes. What started as an experiment with vintage electronics grew into a bold expansion of the trio's identity. The songs evoke a world between dream and experiment, with influences from, among others, Cluster, Mort Garson, Hiroshi Yoshimura and Brian Eno. Fulco Ottervanger, Lieven Van Pée and Simon Segers, as Fuzzy Bears, make the colorful jazz they are known for with De Beren Gieren even more colorful in the form of ‘unsequenced electronic music’.
