Trio Grande

Trio Grande (Gilad Hekselman, Will Vinson, Nate Wood) is much larger than its trio formula suggests. At first glance, it seems to be missing a bassist, but in reality, there are three: Nate Wood is undoubtedly one of the few musicians in the world capable of playing drums and bass simultaneously at such a level of virtuosity. The saxophonist Will Vinson also alternates with keyboards, while the guitarist Gilad Hekselman is recognized for his art of weaving contrapuntal lines over the entire range of his instrument, and even beyond. Together, the three musicians produce a sound of a scale and richness worthy of a group twice as large. Their first album (with Antonio Sánchez on drums instead of Nate Wood) was hailed by international critics. DownBeat magazine wrote: "The beauty of this album of original compositions lies in the fact that it is much more than a simple meeting of stars; an exceptional connection unites these musicians. Each brings their singular vision, but the whole gives birth to something new and exciting." For its part, Jazzwise emphasized: "A project endowed with a powerful and totally original contemporary sound identity." The group will release “Trio Grande: What’s Left” in June 2026 and will go on tour in November.
