Reylandt Trio: Pieter-Jan Verhoyen: piano, Jeroen De Beer: violin, Pieter-Jan De Smet: cello Thomas Blondelle: vocals and narrator Libraries have been written about the love life of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). For whom did he write Für Elise? To whom did he dedicate the famous Moonlight Sonata? Who was his mysterious “immortal beloved”? It remains a fact that he always remained a bachelor, although according to friends he was “always in love”. What if we could let Beethoven speak for himself, and get his version of the story? Maybe he would escape his legendary anger for a moment and tell us what really happened, and what didn't. Tenor Thomas Blondelle crawls into the skin of the composer and tells about all the near-loves of Ludwig. Accompanied by the Ryelandt Trio, he brings an idiosyncratic biography, interspersed with songs, piano trios, and a selection from his Scottish and Irish folk songs for piano trio and vocals. With a Beethovenian tempo like a whirlwind, they tell a fascinating life story full of missed opportunities. With a lot of humor, and perhaps also some compassion for the notoriously grumpy, stubborn, sometimes also shy composer. What if he could rewrite a number of love letters? Would he sign with “Love, Ludwig”? Or, as he always did, with: “Beethoven”? Does he still have a bone to pick with someone? Or does he just want to make amends? Thomas Blondelle and the Ryelandt Trio find out for you – they give the lovestruck Ludwig van Beethoven a voice, exactly 200 years after his death. Reylandt Trio: Pieter-Jan Verhoyen - piano, Jeroen De Beer - violin, Pieter-Jan De Smet - cello
