Recognized within the top arts status of the Vlaamse Overheid and winner of the Jeune Espoir prize in Avignon “Intimate, touching, and without frills – Door van Bergen lets the song breathe.” The just 18-year-old tenor Door Van Bergen from Westerlo (and recently graduated from the Heist academy) convincingly emerges as a remarkable new voice in the firmament of the classical song. In his recital, he shows stunning musicality, carried by a warm timbre, a flexible high register, and a strikingly natural expressiveness. De Vlaamse Overheid recognized Door within the top arts status. With work by Williams, Britten, Poulenc, and Chausson, among others, Van Bergen brings a program that breathes elegance and emotional depth. Door's interpretations testify to a refined stylistic awareness and a personal power of expression that is rare at such a young age. Pianist Jef Kolacny and Friends form, together with the strings at the piano, a sensitive and virtuoso sounding board for Van Bergens's voice, making each song a subtly layered narrative. ‘Eternal Echoes’ is a soulful journey through sound, memory, and emotion – brought by a rising star with an impressive musical instinct.
