This nature and walking area stretches between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge. Nature lovers and walkers can enjoy the beautiful dune landscape with its rich plant growth. De Fonteintjes are known for their plant richness. Five species of orchids, including the marsh orchid, the bee orchid and the marsh helleborine, come into bloom there. Other pearls such as adder's tongue, water-soldier and the extremely rare pondweed also thrive very well. Especially May and June are ideal to admire the plants🌾🍀🌸. In this small, but beautiful nature reserve, it is teeming with butterflies, dragonflies, beetles...🐝🦋🐞 🐝 🐛 Various bird species also feel at home here. In the reed lands of the dunes, the Cetti's warbler, the sedge warbler, the reed warbler and the marsh warbler sing their song in the spring. Occasionally you also hear the call of the water rail and green frogs complete the choir.🐸🐸 In the spring and autumn, tens of thousands of birds migrate to their breeding or wintering area over De Fonteintjes, which provides a true spectacle. 🐦🦉 🦅 🦆 A unique nature reserve to discover with an experienced guide also in the autumn! The bushes then show off their colorful berries. The sea buckthorn, the blackthorn, the wild privet, the spindle tree ... you can admire them all. The guide will also point out the berries you'd better not touch! 📌 Tips for participants 👕 Dress in layers. The weather changes quickly, especially at the coast. 👖 Wear long pants. 🌦️ Provide rain protection. 🥾 Put on sturdy walking shoes. 🔭 Bring binoculars. 🦟 Protect yourself against mosquitoes. 🌞 Don't forget your sunscreen, cap or hat! 🐶 Leave your dog at home.
