From local heroes, they grew into true wave heroes by scoring the belpop hit Love Games in 1984. In 1985, the LP Lip Service followed, which still sounds like a kind of greatest hits today. In 2026, Schmutz sounds remarkably fresh. With the recognizable voice of Guy Peeters, they balance effortlessly between accessible and idiosyncratic, in a typical eighties style that has lost none of its charm.
