Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the most famous star duo of the silent film era. When talking pictures arrive, it turns out that the handsome, rather dim-witted and conceited diva, Lina Lamont, has a scary and unpleasant voice. Speech lessons don't help. Don's best friend Cosmo comes up with the idea of having another woman record the lines and songs, while Linda just has to 'lip-sync'. That other voice belongs to the charming revue singer Kathy Shelden, with whom Don quickly falls in love. The musical SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is now 70 years old, but has lost none of its charm. The title track of the same name, in which Gene Kelly lets his acting, singing, and dancing talent shine in the rain, has reached iconic status today.
