Chantal Acda - The Whale

Chantal Acda is a Belgian-Dutch singer-songwriter with a fragile, recognizable voice. Her music touches, with honest and emotional songs that vary from indie folk to jazz and ambient. In 2024, she changed course. For the first time, she did not write her new album The Whale alone, but together with her regular band. "It feels like a book that we have written together," says Chantal. The songs are inspired by stories from her band members, making her music feel both personal and universal. Chantal previously worked with Nils Frahm, Bill Frisell, and Colin Stetson and experimented with different styles. Surrounded by Alan Gevaert (dEUS) on bass, Eric Thielemans (Ben Sluijs Quartet) on drums, Niels van Heertum (Marble Sounds) on euphonium and keys, and Gaetan Vandewoude (Isbells) on guitar, Chantal returns with a more powerful and accessible sound, without losing her profound emotion.
