Us! (6-106) - Lennert Maes & band

Lennaert Maes and Andries Boone have been making performances for those learning Dutch for 15 years. In the performance Wij 2026, they work together with 3 top musicians: Zouratié Koné from Burkina Faso, Nathalie Ballestas from Colombia, and Jamal Moussaid from Morocco. These newcomers were already professionally active as musicians in their home country and bring their musical influences to the stage of Wij. Songs from our home get an exotic interpretation and songs from their home get a Dutch-language version. This way, Wij make music together, with Dutch as the working language, but with music from all over the world. All lyrics are projected during the performance and around three of the songs from this production can be worked on in the classroom with the lesson folder. After the great success of the first series of Wij performances, the performance now returns with new musicians and new songs. Wij 2026 is a strong musical story by Flemish people and non-native speakers who learned Dutch, made for those learning Dutch, but just as engaging for the Flemish theater visitor. Bij Wij we all come together. This performance is an AL-performance (Alle Leeftijden) and therefore takes place at 19:30.
