BAS BIRKER - TWO PERCENT
There you are, with your test result. It turns out you belong to the smartest two percent of the population. And have done absolutely nothing with it all these years. 'Blessed with a good set of brains', that's what they call it. But isn't it actually a curse? Because what use are brains if you can only use them to look back on all your stupid actions?
In his latest comedy show, Bas Birker dives into the wonderful world under his skull. Because you can rely on your ratio for more than 40 years because you never learned anything else; when your feelings suddenly run away with you, you encounter yourself so often and so hard that you can start a comedy duo with yourself. And so Bas tells how a smart boy did stupid things. And why you are blessed with a simple view of the world and cursed if you think you know everything. Whether you belong to the large majority, or to that two percent.
With ‘Twee procent’, Bas Birker is ready for his sixth theater show. Furthermore, Bas has been one of the permanent columnists of ‘Het Middagjournaal’ by Nieuwe Feiten on Radio 1 for years. Currently, he is touring with a selection from these columns, during a lecture titled ‘Liefste Landgenoten,’. Bas is also one of the permanent “Tafelspringers” in De Tafel van Gert (GoPlay).
Press about his previous show ‘In blijde verachting’:
“In his finale, Birker underscores once again that he deserves his place at the top of Flemish and Dutch stage humor.” * * * * - De Morgen.
“How he portrays his Afghan surgeon, his Bulgarian neighbor in the hospital bed next to him or the “self-scan grumbler” of the supermarket is downright divinely good.” - * * * * - Knack Focus.
