A year project and guest lecturers
After the sudden passing of inspirer Leo Jo Estercam, Metaforo Photoclub uses a new formula. We now work with (monthly) guest lecturers and also start with a (photo)year project.
Because learning about photography and evolving yourself, that remains the goal.
The year project
In 2026, everyone zooms in on their own municipality/city and presents it photogenically. Feel like participating? You are welcome! And you can get started with your camera whenever it suits you best. On January 8, we started this. And in the spring, we continue this on various dates. Do you already have some photos? Then bring them on a USB stick. Viewing them together often also provides new insights and angles, can also inspire others.
De Metaforo-agenda: 23/04: workshop Black and white photography with Els Strijckmans, 30/04: viewing moment black and white photography, 07/05: workshop ‘Urban landscape storytelling’ with guest teacher Sander de Wilde, 14/05: Ascension (no photo club), 21/05: viewing moment ‘Urban landscape storytelling’ with Sander de Wilde, 28/05: year project ‘my municipality’, 04/06: Abstract photography (oil on water) with guest teacher Marie-Henriette Struyf, 11/06: viewing moment with guest teacher Hung Tran; 18/06: part 2 Abstract photography with guest teacher Marie-Henriette Struyf, 25/06: making a photo book with Danielle Antonis
ELS STRIJCKMANS
Image has always fascinated me. Toen Bop offered the chance to follow photography under the guidance of Leo Estercam, I was happy to join. That's how I learned the ‘technical side‘ of photography.
Afterwards, I seized the opportunity to deepen my knowledge via the photography training of the CVO Brussels. The modules space, human, action, and matter broadened my view.
I finished the training with my portfolio ‘still landscape’ in black and white. Afterwards, I followed two more masterclasses.
I first chose the subject modern architecture in black and white, afterwards I set the project ‘when nature takes over’ in color.
I was allowed to participate in some group exhibitions of photography and visual arts with various subjects and thus learned from the feedback of the viewers. Photographing remains my passion!
