Migraine is the most common neurological condition around which many misunderstandings still exist. About 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience it at some point in their lives. A migraine attack can be very disabling and has a major impact on quality of life, especially in people under 50. Yet there are still many misunderstandings about migraine. It is much more than just a headache. Due to the stigma surrounding the condition, many people with migraine still feel misunderstood too often. During this information session, neurologist Doctor Adinda De Pauw, co-author of the book ‘Migraine’ and ‘Migraine in vraag en antwoord’ (Migraine in questions and answers), clearly explains the clinical picture of migraine. What exactly happens in the brain during an attack? Which symptoms and triggers play a role? What can you do during an attack and what possibilities exist to tackle migraine preventively, with or without medication? In collaboration with local service center Dorpshuis. Registration is possible online or via the reception of the Dorpshuis or in the library itself.
