The story of Lung-ta + Glowing mountains in the sky - Nausca + OUTER

Nausca Nausca, that is Mathijs Bertel, previously also the pivot of Ansatz der Maschine for twenty years. Since the debut The postman is a girl from 2006, Bertel has surrounded himself with a loose series of musicians into a mini-orchestra in which the role of acoustic instruments became increasingly larger. Just like nature, one of his sources of inspiration, his music remains constantly in motion. Bertel, who also writes soundtracks for film and theater, also likes to experiment with visuals and surround sound during performances. Ansatz der Maschine said goodbye to the audience in 2023 with the multimedia Tunguska, at the beginning of 2027 Bertel presents a first project under the name Nausca. The story of Lung-ta is an audiovisual performance in which four musicians (harp, strings, drums, electronics, guzheng, nyckalharpa, and yaïli tambur) tell a story using real film footage, animation video, graphic design, and immersive sound. The album was released on the Swedish 1631 Recordings (see also Dustin O’Halloran, Hauschka, Nils Frahm). Studio Brussel, Radio 1, Klara, and De Standaard picked up the album. OUTER presented the album during our Nordic night(s) of 2020 and 2021. Soetaert subsequently joined the live band of Sohnar, the nordic project of Patricia Vanneste, and presented the (post)classical program Nachtbaders on Klara. Opvolger Glowing mountains in the sky was written between 2020 and 2024, mainly in remote locations in Iceland, Norway, and the Czech Republic. The album, with striking contributions from the Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen, is like a sonic journey through dreams and memories - both lovely and ominous with dynamic and layered compositions.
