An acrobatic confrontation in which two men measure their strength during a musical performance and gradually put the idea of masculinity and competition under pressure.
Seraphim Richter and Daniel Fernández López look like stereotypical, tough guys at first glance. With stunning strength and elegance, they move on stage with the aerial straps: two cotton straps with a loop at the bottom for the hands, comparable to gymnastics rings. Initially, they appear as two alpha males challenging each other and testing each other's physical strength and skills. Gradually, however, cracks appear in the male mask and people appear who are both extremely strong and vulnerable. Maelstrom is a disarming performance about virility in times of Trump and Tate. The brilliant acrobatics and the poetic pantomimes to a soundtrack of baroque music are a pleasure for the eye and the ear.
