Mark Sinatra was once called the best-kept secret of Mechelen. Today they are stepping out with new work from a bygone era. Songs from a past decade contains songs that the three-piece band, together with producer Doorchaser and sound engineer Laurent Mertens, spent almost a decade refining. Sinatra weaves his idiosyncratic polyphonic acoustic guitar sound with electronics and medieval instruments, to land on contemporary timeless songs. On the LP, they supplement these with a few songs from the band's earlier years, in their purest sound of three-part harmony, flamenco, and folk guitar. Thus, the album embraces a total of three decades of Mark Sinatra. For the album presentation, Sinatra is surrounded by the very best from musical Mechelen: artists from illustrious bands such as Stereomoon, Red Red, and Temsor Tympani join the band for one time only to play the album in its entirety. Past and present intertwine on September 23 in hall mARTa, the new performance hall risen in the former Heilig Hartkerk in the Adegemstraat.
