A family is getting ready to spend a Sunday at home. Despite the heat, the melting objects, a wind strong enough to blow the horns off a bull, and the raging deluge, life goes on. As everything transforms and collapses, human beings display surprising inventiveness to try to preserve their daily life… to the point of the absurd. At the same time, on roads traveling the world, a team of animal reporters is preparing a documentary witnessing the life of the last species living on Earth. The result of a collective, wordless writing process, mixing gestural theater, object theater, puppetry, acting, and video, Dimanche bears witness to the cataclysms underway and to come, and to the nascent apocalypse. Like a game of ping-pong, we follow two different points of view – that of a family unit and that of the reporters – which show a community of people completely out of sync with what is happening to them. The dreamlike writing perfectly marries a delicious absurdity and 100% homemade craftsmanship.
