From the 1920s onwards, 'modernism' emerged in architecture. Le Corbusier is the great pioneer; here, we look at Huub Hoste, among others. As in the visual arts, literature, etc., we see a break with the past in that period, partly inspired by the catastrophe of the First World War. Central to this is a sleek structural form, aimed at efficiency, without superfluous frills. New materials are introduced. With this walk, we go in search of traces of modernism in Mechelen. The walks generally last 1 hour and start at 2 PM at the Schepenhuis. Price: 5€ to be paid to account BE44 406601481145 (Marcel De Schoenmaeker) Subscribe to the newsletter
