Musica Divina 2026: DionysosNow! & HERMESensemble Moment of silence

Can we not consider silence as truth? Every concert has a ritualistic aspect. However, the vocal ensemble DionysosNow! and the HERMESensemble go a step further. Werken van Josquin Deprez, Cipriaan De Rore, Adriaan Willaert, and Carlo Gesualdo di Venosa are alternated with distorted sound improvisations on clarinet by Peter Merckx. The music moves from worldly expression to devotional depth, from melody to sound. Systematically, we go back in time: the lush polyphony of the beginning has now become Gregorian chant. Sound becomes noise, until that too eventually transitions into silence. That is the moment when music completely lets go of its earthly contours and results in its purest and most mystical truth.
