Short film evening Raoul Servais

Raoul Servais (1928–2023) was a Belgian film artist with international appeal. His work continues to capture the imagination and is praised worldwide. With short films such as Chromophobia, To speak or not to speak, Harpya, Nachtvlinders, Atraksion and Tank, he won numerous prizes at renowned festivals such as Venice, Cannes and Annecy. In 1994, he realized his only feature film Taxandria, an impressive tour de force. During this film evening, we will screen several short films that make the development throughout the oeuvre of Servais visible. Beforehand, film expert Wouter Hessels will take you into the life and work of Servais. He highlights his continuous search for formal and technological innovation and places his oeuvre in a broader film-historical perspective. Wouter Hessels is a lecturer in film history at the RITCS and INSAS and works as a film curator.
