Vibraphone and marimba player Jorge Rossy presents his new quartet with Milena Casado (trumpet), Robert Landfermann (bass), and Cornelia Nilsson (drums)
“Jorge Rossy sees himself as a storyteller, and his stories need time and space – which he generously grants them. He elicits from his vibraphone a kind of poetry that no one has ever heard before.” Even when the influential drummer known from Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, and Jakob Bro shines on vibraphone in his own projects, he reaps rave reviews in the press. It is therefore eagerly awaited for his new quartet with established value Robert Landfermann on bass (John Scofield, Lee Konitz) and young talents Milena Casado on trumpet (“a revelation” according to the New York Times) and Cornelia Nilsson on drums. On ‘11 Years’, vibraphone and marimba sometimes take the lead, sometimes they subtly accompany the melody. Which means that not only Rossy, but ALL musicians can fully celebrate the poetry of their instrument.
