Difficult issues are explained in an accessible way. Afterwards, there is time for questions and reflections from the audience. Food for body and mind, every first Tuesday of the month! How do you as a parent deal with peer pressure and screen time? And what if your child asks for their own device? On the occasion of the screen-free youth library in Muntpunt, we will be in conversation with Kids Unplugged and the authors of the book 'Why a smartphone can wait'. They share insights from research and their own experiences as parents. Together we explore how you can postpone smartphone use and what alternatives there are. And how can you prepare children for a digital future? An inspiring conversation for parents and everyone who wants to think about the place of screens in family life. About the speakers Lies Craeynest and Ankatrin Pessemier are the founders of Kids Unplugged, a Belgian initiative that advocates for a smartphone-free childhood until 14 years old and a minimum age of 16 for social media. Lies Craeynest is a Brussels mother of two children and an expert in technology and sustainability. She actively draws attention to the impact of screen time on the mental development of children. Ankatrin Pessemier is, in addition to her commitment to Kids Unplugged, also a teacher. Jessica van de Ven is coordinator of Brussels Academy. As a mother, she brings her own experiences into the conversation. Together with the other speakers, she will discuss parenting in a digital world, screen use, and postponing the first smartphone.
