About embarrassing moments in the chip shop
and mothers who come out of phones.
About small thoughts that become bigger
and big feelings that shrink.
About hormones and a growing mustache,
about wearing skirts and about armpit hair.
About girls and boys and boxes.
Or is it perhaps not all that black and white?
In 'BONJOUR MADEMOISELLEKE', Lukas’ love for theater and illustration meet.
The performance is a living graphic novel that unfolds drawing by drawing. In this visual search for gender identity, Lukas draws mainly from conversations, situations, and feelings that he has experienced himself.
Everything that can be seen on stage is hand-drawn and crafted and is visibly manipulated by five players. This stream of images, thoughts, words, and feelings is accompanied live on melodica, accordion, and an electronic organ.
'BONJOUR MADEMOISELLEKE' is a performance for young and old in which themes such as identity, gender, and the search for yourself are approached with a good dose of curiosity, care, and humor.
PRESS:
“A silent performance that still tells so much. With living illustrations. For ten plus. About all the sensitivities and embarrassment of a girl who would rather be a man. Must see! (...) That is exactly what ‘Bonjour Mademoiselleke’ does like no other performance: making a strength of pure aesthetics.” (Pzazz)
“The performance breaks gender stereotypes and makes gender identity and gender expression discussable for a young audience in a playful way. It can contribute to an environment in which children can experiment, discover, and grow without pressure or judgment.” (Gazet van Antwerpen / Het Nieuwsblad)
Winner of the Boze Wolf prize for ‘emerging talent’ at the Boze Wolf Figurentheaterfestival 2025.
"This 'Bonjour Mademoiselleke' surprises, amazes. (...) It is a production that combines the theater of things with a special form of drawing art, the comic strip, and more specifically the graphic novel. (...) A performance that, in terms of form and content, may go out into the world, must go. Dank Lukas Glowacki, thanks to your whole team, thanks to DE MAAN, for this extravagant, graphic-novel-inspired production, which promises for the future! Thanks for making something so beautiful for us." - Jury Boze Wolf Festival
Geselecteerd for The TheaterFestival 2026
"With this performance, Glowacki immediately shows himself to be an innovative and promising voice in youth theater. His original style testifies to exceptional craftsmanship and dedication, but at least as impressive is the sensitivity with which he dares to enter socially sensitive territory. Glowacki does it playfully and precisely, with a sharp eye and an imaginative boldness. BONJOUR MADEMOISELLEKE is a true gem that should be seen by as many people as possible.” - Jury Het TheaterFestival
