Conférence-débat : Liberté d’informer, à quel prix?
dim. 15 nov. 2026 · 15:00
La Tricoterie - Link factory, Brussels
More than a hundred media professionals are murdered each year around the world for exercising their freedom to report the news. Who wants to silence them, and what risks do these so-called “messengers” face? Amid political and economic pressures and intimidation, the work of journalists is becoming increasingly precarious.
How can we report under these conditions, and at what point do we choose to remain silent?
What is the value of news when the pressure to intimidate journalists is mounting? What motivates those who produce it to continue their mission to inform despite everything?
And what remains today of the right to information, a fundamental principle of our democracies?
This conference and panel discussion will bring together journalists who have taken real risks to continue reporting. It will invite journalists and citizens to discuss press freedom, the threats that undermine it, and the democratic issues linked to the right to information.
